On Sunday, Nov. 6th, I performed the full special (all 70 uncensored minutes) at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. It was a HUGE honor and thrill and makes me even more excited about finally getting this thing filmed and on Netflix (fingers crossed)!
Look for clips soon, as well as the official trailer for the special (finally!) and additional tour dates!
I’m excited to be touring Harrison Greenbaum: What Just Happened? over the next few months, filming the shows for (at the very least) use in a trailer or pitch materials for the special.
Next Friday, Oct. 14th, at 7:30 PM, I’ll be at the Schimmel Center, performing the full, uncensored show as the opening of their fall season. Tickets are available at http://schimmelcenter.org/event/harrison-greenbaum-what-just-happened.
I’ll be announcing more dates soon (including Nov. 6th at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.!), so look for that, but in the meantime, I’ll see you on Oct. 14th!
I’m currently in Chicago, the 4th stop on a North American tour that includes shows in Boston, Washington, D.C, Toronto, Vancouver, Seattle, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. Here’s the current view of the lake from my hotel window:
I’m opening for the hilarious and unbelievably talented Gad Elmaleh (“the Jerry Seinfeld of France”) and having a blast! We’re hitting 8 cities in 10 days, so it’s really been a whirlwind of a tour (and I’m loving every minute of it).
The tour ends with a show in Oakland, CA, and I’ll stay another 2 days on my own, taping a 10-12 min. set LIVE for Seeso’s “The Guest List: Live at the Barrel House,” which means I’m thaaaaat much closer to my Netflix special (I hope).
Follow all of my travel-related antics/photos via my Twitter and my Instagram. And if you’re in one of the cities I’m in (all the show dates/places are on my tour calendar), say hi!
I know it’s nerdy to keep track of numbers like this, but since moving to NYC, I’ve tallied up the amount of shows I do each year. And tomorrow, since I started counting Jan. 1st, 2009, I will be hitting my 5,000th show! It’s a fun milestone and I guess the connection to this blog is that I’d love to bring that experience to a special.
In Montreal at Just for Laughs through Friday night, so will keep you posted!
I’m touring the U.S. and Canada this whole summer, performing my special (or parts of my special) at most of these tour dates. Headed to Montreal’s Just for Laughs Festival (the biggest and most prestigious comedy festival in the world) this Monday, so hoping to run into some people who can help make this special a reality!
In other news, continuing to get great (and super-helpful) feedback from the beta test, as well as adding little things to the show on my own, thanks to being able to run the show/special at the Magic Castle, Tannen’s Magic Camp, and at the Society of American Magicians’ National Convention in Indianapolis.
All of that, and I got to break in my new suit (which is the one I’d like to wear for the special). I know this sounds silly, but I’ve been wearing the same suit since 2005 when I was a sophomore in college, so 11 years later, I finally have a suit that’s current and fits really well. (One of the more recurring comments from the beta has actually been, “Get a better suit!” Well, I’ve listened and I do now! Easy fix!)
More news soon!

The response to the beta test has been overwhelming – thanks so much to everyone who wrote in and to everyone who’s already sent in notes!
The beta will be open for a few more days, so e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org to get the special link and password before it switches off.
Enjoy your July 4th weekend!
Landed in LA yesterday for my week at the Magic Castle, so finally have time to officially launch the first-ever beta test for a comedy special!
Simply send an e-mail to email@example.com and you will receive a special link and password with which you will have 7 days to watch the beta version of the special. All I ask is that you send me your feedback (however brief or in depth you’d like to get).
Looking forward to hearing for you!
If I’m going to be the first person to get a Netflix special just by asking for it, then I might as well be first in other things as well.
For example, I was the first person to scream, “I want an onion blanket tree whistle ferret” while spinning and wearing a propeller hat, although mostly because nobody ever thought to try it. (Follow your dreams, kids. Follow your dreams.)
I’m also going to beta test my special, beginning Monday. In tech start-ups, beta testing means releasing the software to a select group of people to get their feedback before a wider release.
I recorded a proof-of-concept version of the special back in January. It’s a 50 min. set, filmed live at Monday Night Magic, and differs from what would be my actual special by only one trick. (Also, Monday Night Magic is a family-friendly show, so a few bits were cut that would be put back in for the uncensored Netflix special.)
Starting on Monday, you’ll be able to request a password that will be good for 7 days, during which you can view the “beta test” special and (if you’d be so kind) e-mail me back any feedback that you have. All of your notes (and, seriously, feel free to comment on anything and everything) will then be taken into account when (if?) we actually record the special.
Also starting next Monday, I’ll be at the Magic Castle (I’m there from June 13-19), doing 3 shows a night at the Parlor of Prestidigitation, a room with an alliterative name, so you know it must be good. I’ll be doing tricks from the special (and wearing a new suit! the one I’d wear if we made a special!) so that’ll be a good test run as well.
Have a great weekend! (I’ll be working.) (But I love my job.) (So I’m looking forward to it.) (Glad to hear it.) (Am I having a conversation with myself?) (Yes.) (Is that normal?) (If you say it is.) (I do.)
Hey, the first official press mention of IWantaNetflixSpecial.com:
More updates very soon! And the Magic Castle shows begin next week!
This project will only work with the support of you guys, so just wanted to thank you again for being superstars.
